Future Trends in Employee Training and Development

Personalized Training as a New Trend

Thanks to digital training tools, we are able to personalize employee training. When employees receive training that is specifically tailored to their needs, they are able to obtain the most beneficial learning experiences (Mason-Suares et al., 2016). The responsibilities and goals of each individual worker are input into the digital training software, which then generates individualized educational opportunities for that worker. When compared to the training that is intended for all users, this represents a significant advancement because every single lesson is tailored specifically to the needs of the individual user (Mason-Suares et al., 2016).

To ensure that your training is tailored to the specific needs of each of your employees, you must first have a solid understanding of those needs. Challenges that are the most difficult for newly hired staff to overcome must be identified and the most effective way to acquire this knowledge is by directly inquiring with the relevant employees. During the onboarding process, you should give surveys not only to your experienced staff but also to your newly hired employees. It's possible the surveys won't be difficult (“SPECIAL GUIDANCE PROTFOLIO DESCRIBES NEW TREND in SECRETARIAL TRAINING,” 1962). Which skills do workers hope to improve upon while working in their current positions and which skills do they believe will be necessary for them to cultivate in order to advance to the next position in the company needs to be identified. After that, you should determine which skills are mentioned the most often and concentrate your employees' training on those skills that are most in demand in the workplace (“SPECIAL GUIDANCE PROTFOLIO DESCRIBES NEW TREND in SECRETARIAL TRAINING,” 1962).

The implementation of digital adoption platforms is necessary for the development of personalized training (DAPs). DAPs collaborate with other digital technologies to provide users with automatic training that is specifically tailored to their needs while they are performing other tasks. Each learner will receive work lists from a DAP, which will also include essential walkthroughs that explain the most efficient ways for employees to perform each part of their job. These work lists and walkthroughs will be provided by a DAP. DAPs make it simple for employers to monitor the development of their employees' education. All of the data contribute to an overall improvement in the workflow.

Leveraging the Power of Artificial Intelligence

It has already been demonstrated that artificial intelligence (AI) can make staff training more effective. The subsequent stages that should be completed during training are suggested by AI, which also adjusts current training needs to a learner's role within the firm and develops personal growth goals (Clark, 2020). When appropriate, AI can point staff workers in the direction of educational films or literature. This brings up the primary purpose of customizing the instruction in the first place.

Improving personalized training programs is made possible with the use of AI in learning management systems (LMS) (Clark, 2020). Training is customized for each employee based on the decisions they make and the activities they participate in throughout their courses. After that, the AI is able to recommend relevant classes that staff people may want to take in the future or may be required to take.

Not only can AI be utilized to benefit individuals who are already in the workforce, but also those who will be entering the workforce in the future. Because bots learn from the data collected, when one witness another employee pursuing a similar learning path, the bot may be able to predict which lessons will be advantageous based on what worked for prior employees. This is because bots learn from the data (Eubanks, 2022).

The future of Employee Training

Employees might not receive the same face-to-face training as they once did, but technology enables us to deliver more individualized training strategies. These strategies, thanks to AI, can adjust to the learner's needs on the fly, which is a significant improvement over the traditional training model (Noe, 2014). It is possible to incorporate training programs into an employee's workflow, which enables that employee to learn while they are working and eliminates the need for that employee to take time off to attend training. As a consequence of all of this, onboarding and upskilling procedures become more effective, and they no longer require the presence of trainers (Noe, 2014). Technology is not only assisting us in adjusting to remote and hybrid work environments, but it is also making it possible to train employees more thoroughly than ever before.

  1. Good article Rayan, Furthermore, Training and development is an important activity that increases the performance of employee in an organization and is a building block which enhances the growth and success of an organization. Armstrong (2009) stated that organizations could benefit from training and development through winning the ―heart and minds of‖ their employees to get them to identify with the organization, to exert themselves more on its behalf and to remain with the organization. Training and development are the processes of investing in people so that they are equipped to perform well and are part of an overall human resource management approach that hopefully will result in people being motivated to perform (McDowall & Saunders 2010).

    1. Agreed with you Danushka, employee turnover is a biggest issue in an organization. According to Rachael Nemeth (CEO Opus), Training helps employees feel confident in their abilities, understand their role, and learn the ins and outs of their job. When employees feel prepared and confident, they’re more likely to stay with the company — especially during challenging times When employees feel prepared, they’re more likely to meet their full potential and communicate their needs before they are tempted to leave. This can benefit the organization as a whole by increasing productivity, improving communication, and increasing retention

Improving company culture is another benefit of providing employee training and development programs. Chris Dyer, author of the 2018 book The Power of Company Culture, reports that training and development opportunities are in line with attributes he calls the key pillars for a strong company culture.
      • Transparency — Communicating about organizational details such as staff feedback and financial status
      • Positivity — Accepting challenges by building on an organization’s strengths
      • Measurement — Collecting, measuring, and evaluating information.
      • Acknowledgment — Praising and rewarding good work
      • Uniqueness — Advancing a company’s unique qualities
      • Listening — Encouraging active listening that leads to action
      • Mistakes — Fostering an environment where employees learn from missteps

Dyer notes that company leaders should be open about the importance of training and development to the company and its employees as part of a positive culture. The following are among the ways training and development programs can help improve company culture.

Companies aim for on-the-job training by using educational methods and programs. Employees are a company’s biggest asset, and investing in talent is vital to sustainable business growth and success.* According to Tsai, Yen, Huang, and Huang (2007), employees who are committed to learning showed a higher level of job satisfaction that has a positive effect on their performance. Moreover, Locke defined job satisfaction as a pleasurable or positive emotional state resulting from a positive appraisal of the job or job experiences (Locke, 1976

Comprehensive training and development program aids in deliberating on the knowledge, skills and attitudes crucil to achieve organizational goals and objectives and also to sharp competitive advantage (Peteraf 1993). Furthermore, in the commencement of the twenty-first century Human Resource Managers have opined that one of the main challenges they are to confront had involved issues in regards to training and development (Stavrou, Brewster and Charalambous 2004). Moreover , by selecting the right type of training, employers ensure that their employees possess the right skills for the business, and the same need to be consistently updated in the follow up of new HR practices. To face current and future business demands, training and development process has mingled its strategic role and in this way few studies by Stavrou et al.’s (2004) and Apospori, Nikandrou, Brewster and Papalexandris’s (2008), have scored much attentiveness as they highlight the T&D practices in cross-national approach. For Ivancevich (1995), training may be understood as a systematic
process that leads the employees’ behavior towards accomplishing the set
of organizational objectives. As a consequence, it is considered as an essential component of successful companies. It is the preferred practice for
Changing the skills, knowledge and behavior of management and non-management employees (Patel, 2014).

  13. Good post Rayan, Training presents a prime opportunity to expand the knowledge base of all employees, but many employers find the development opportunities expensive (Walters & Rodriguez, 2017). Employees also miss out on work time while attending training sessions, which may delay the completion of projects. Despite the potential drawbacks, training and development provides both the company as a whole and the individual employees with benefits that make the cost and time a worthwhile investment (Kapur, 2018).
