Importance of Employee Training and Development
Training presents a
wonderful opportunity to broaden the knowledge base of all employees, despite
the fact that many employers find development opportunities to be expensive.
It's possible that projects will take longer to complete when workers miss time
at the office to attend training sessions. The investment of time and money in
employee training and development is beneficial not only to the company as a
whole but also to the individual employees. This is true despite the
possibility of adverse effects (Noe, 2014).
Addressing the weaknesses of the employee
The majority of workers
have certain skill gaps that are connected to their work. You can acquire the
skills that each employee needs to hone by participating in a training program
that will assist you in doing so (Craig, 1987). Through the use of a development
program, all of the workers are brought up to the same level, which results in
all of them having the same capabilities. Because of this, any weak places in
the organization that largely relied on other people to carry out everyday
duties will be eliminated. When the essential training is received, it results
in an informed workforce overall, with workers who are able to step in, when necessary,
work in teams, or operate independently without constant instruction from other
people (Craig,
1987).
Improvements in Employee
Performance
When it comes to
performing their jobs, employees who have received the necessary training are
in a stronger position. She acquires a deeper understanding of the proper
procedures and best practices for completing the responsibilities she faces on
a daily basis. Because the employee has gained a deeper comprehension of the
industry as a whole as well as the responsibilities connected to her job, she
may experience an increase in her level of self-assurance as a direct result of
the training (Armstrong,
2018). This self-assurance can serve as motivation for her to work even
harder and come up with innovative approaches to achieve her goals.
In addition, continuous
training ensures that your employees are up to date on the latest trends in the
market (Armstrong,
2018). Your company's ability to continue to be a market leader and a
tough competitor depends on having staff members who are knowledgeable and who
stay current with the shifting standards of the industry.
Structured training and
development
A well-planned training
and development program ensures that employees will always have the same level
of consistency and background knowledge (Ibraiz Tarique, 2014). Maintaining a
consistent approach to the core values and procedures of the company is of the
utmost significance.
Employee Job satisfaction
Employees who work for
companies that provide them with opportunities for training and development
have an advantage over those who work for companies in which workers are
required to hunt for their own training opportunities. When a firm prioritizes
its employees' professional development, it sends a clear message to those
employees about the value the company places on them. The training results in
the production of an encouraging work environment (Muhammad, 2010).
There is a possibility
that workers will have access to training that, in other circumstances, they
would not have been aware of or sought out on their own initiative. If they are
made to feel appreciated and given the opportunity to challenge themselves
through training, employees may experience greater job satisfaction (Cohen, 2017).

Totally agreed the content above Rayan. Although firms are spending more money each year on staff training and development, many executives may find it to be a difficult challenge (Jehanzeb & Bashir, 2013). The role of training and development in human resources management is to close the performance gaps between actual and desired performance (Elnaga & Imran, 2013; Nassazi, 2013). According to Nassazi (2013), senior executives identify needs at the strategic level based on the organization's goals, mission, and strategy.
ReplyDeleteThank You Romedha for your valuable comment, the key element in an organization are the human resources. They are carry away the organization goals towards the success/achievements. Since the management staff until the clerical staffs, it is an important factor is the trainings and developments for improve their knowledge.
DeleteI agreed with you Rayan, Training and development has surfaced as a major educational enterprise over the once three decades, this increase is associated with a demand in the plant for Employee at all situations to enhance performance in their present and future jobs to acquire skills and knowledge to do jobs, and to continue their career progress in a changing world (Somasundaram & Egan, 2004).
ReplyDeleteAgreed Zackey, Furthermore, Training and development makes employees more productive and effective. It is actively and intimately related to all the personnel or managerial activities. It is an integral part of the whole management program with all its many activities functionally inter-related. Training and development is also important for any organization that wants to take advantage of changes, techniques and improvement. (P.Bishnoi)
DeleteAgreed with the content. Further, By providing the necessary knowledge and abilities, training enables organizational members to carry out their duties proficiently, accept new responsibilities, and adjust to changing circumstances. In a similar vein, training enhances productivity, morale, management succession, business growth, profitability, and organizational performance (Jones et al., 2000).
ReplyDeleteAgreed Prabudda, Furthermore.. Successful businesses understand that it’s more beneficial and cost-effective to develop their existing employees instead of seeking out new talent.
DeleteAgree on the content Rayan and further wish to state that Employee training and development programs are essential to the success of businesses worldwide. Not only do these programs offer opportunities for staff to improve their skills, but also for employers to enhance employee productivity and improve company culture. It is very necessary for the organization to design the training very carefully (Michael Armstrong, 2000). The design of the training should be according to the needs of the employees (Ginsberg, 1997). Those organizations which develop a good training design according to the need of the employees as well as to the organization always get good results (Partlow, 1996; Tihanyi, 2000; Boudreau., 2001). It seems that Training design plays a very vital role in the employee as well as organizational performance. a bad training design is nothing but the loss of time and money (Tsaur and Lin, 2004).
ReplyDeleteThank you for the comment William, Furthermore According to Aslam (2014), training programs are effective for employee performance keeping the arrangement and adoption of training as a planned procedure to make the performance more effective. Recent studies mentioned that training is an essential element for sustainable competitive advantage and survival in the 21stcentury as it is the process of providing employees with specific skills or helping them to correct deficiencies in their performance (Hamidum, 2003).
DeleteGreat Introduction article, addition to that employees are the most valuable asset of the organization as they take responsibility for enhanced customer satisfaction and quality of products and services. Without proper training and development opportunities, they would not be able to accomplish their tasks at their full potential. Employees who are fully capable to perform their jobrelatedtasks tend to keep their jobs longer due to higher job satisfaction. Training and development is a vital tool used to not only maximize the performance of employees, but also to help them in becoming more efficient, productive, satisfied, motivated, and innovative in the workplace (Elnaga & Imran, 2013).
ReplyDeleteAgreed Azhar, According to Aswathappa (2000), Effective training methods aimed at improving the employees’ performance. Further training not only develops the capabilities of the employee but sharpen their thinking ability and creativity in order to take better decision in time and in more productive manner (David, 2013). According to Rowden & Conine (2013), well trained employees become more confident in their work, which results in fewer mistakes, reduced rework and thus, higher productivity.
DeleteGood content Rayan, Further , an effective training program actually teaches what it is designed to teach, and it teaches skills and behavior that will help the organization achieve its goals. Effective training will construct a fruitful, skilled and flexible workforce. It also encourages growth within the employees and employees itself. Proper training and development gives benefits such as reducing turnover, improving work safety, expanding customer satisfaction and many others (Woldeyohannes and Alebachew, 2020).
ReplyDeleteThank You Sarasi, Training is essential not only to increase productivity but also to motivate and inspire workers by letting them know how important their jobs are and giving them all the information they need to perform those jobs (Anonymous1998)
DeleteHi Rayan, Agree with the content of your article where it shows employee is the most valuable asset to the organization (Rodriguez, J. and Walters, K., 2017). Training & development plays a vital role to improve the performance of the employee and thereby naturally to maintain quality of work life balance through supportive environment.(Kulkarni, P.P., 2013)
ReplyDeleteAgreed Dileka..The greatest asset in nearly all organizations is their human resource. These surpass in value and in importance than physical assets i.e. building, land, equipment and vehicles. (Anstey et al., 2017) To enable organizations achieve competitive advantage over competitors globally, employees play a very critical role (Oaya et al., (2017). Employees' performance determines company's success, conducting employee performance appraisal ought to be done appropriately International Academic Journal of Human Resource and Business Administration | Volume 3, Issue 10, pp. 265-272 267 and regularly in order to improve quality of work, reduce employee dissatisfaction and decline in work performance. (Shrestha, S. & Chalidabhongse, J., 2006)
DeleteFurthermore, Training that is timely and relevant helps to increase productivity. By closing skills, knowledge, and performance gaps and arming your employees with new ideas, best practices, and skills that they can immediately apply in their jobs, their competence, ability, and confidence levels will rise. As a result, these employees can make better decisions and perform their jobs more effectively and efficiently (Oluwaseun, 2018)
ReplyDeleteAgreed Farhan..Every organization is responsible for improving employees’ performance by implementing relevant and effective training and development programs. Since employees are the most important assets of an organization, it is crucial to sustain such a notion. Organization must optimize the contribution of its employees by ensuring a suitable source of staff that is functionally, technically, and socially capable of growing into specialized or managerial roles (Nassazi, 2013). Overall, organizations that proactively implement employee training and development programs receive positive results from the individuals that use the programs (Jehanzeb & Bashir, 2013)
DeleteGreat article Rayan. Adding further to your findings, studies have returned strong evidence that it's very beneficial for organizations to focus on employee development programs and have also pointed out that an organisation will gain from the market and remain competitive if there is a systematic training and development program in place for it's employees. They further state that an organized and efficient employee development program with proper support will significantly assist an organization to retain its most valued talent (Jehanzeb & Bashir, 2013).
ReplyDeleteThank you for commenting, The most obvious solution to upping employee retention, then, is creating more effective training and development programs (Margaret Rogers 2020)
DeleteGood article Rayan, Further, Employee development and training take place at many organizational levels and aid people in achieving a variety of objectives Rodriguez, J. and Walters, K. (2017). According to Elnaga and Imran (2013), this effort assists individuals in decreasing their anxiety or frustration encountered in the workplace.
ReplyDeleteAgreed Your Content .Furthermore,Any Organizations aspire to be successful through differentiated programs, services, capabilities, and products. However, such elements need to be envisioned, developed, implemented, and sustained by well-trained individuals. Although employee training and development could be a challenging task for many leaders, organizations are investing more than $126 billion a year on employee training and development (Jehanzeb & Bashir, 2013) so employees are able to positively impact organizational outcomes.
